Gu Xiulian: China’s IP Strategy Based on Enterprises

 

In her speech at the First Financing Conference for Industrialization of Technology Patent in Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises on November 18, Gu Xiulian, Vice-Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of China National People's Congress, pointed out that the core competitiveness of an enterprise, when the economic globalization and knowledge-based economy going further right now, depended on its capacities in independent innovation and utilization level of IPR, which were also a determining factor for a country’s power. “Enterprises are the core in IPR strategy and also the base of implementing the National IP Strategy,” said Gu.

“In an era of knowledge-based economy and economic globalization, the success of an enterprise relies on its independent innovative capability and IPRs,” Gu noted, “In fact, IP has become a powerful means of competition for Hi-Tech enterprises.”

“Chinese government has been attaching great concern to IPR development in small and medium-sized firms, and has formulated a series of policies to promote their industrialization of technological achievements,” according to Gu.
