China Post: Examination of IPR-Related Products Enforced

Recently, China Post Group issued a notice regarding strengthening examination of IPR-related products in daily service, bringing forward the specific requirements on examining goods related to IPR when received or delivered.

The Notice requires every department of receipt and delivery to strengthen examination for the contents of mails. If a large quantity of global well-known brand products, such as clothes, shoes, caps and purses etc., are mailed, the post offices should ask the sender to provide a copy of certificate of exclusive trademark right according to China Customs Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, as well as a detailed description of items for further examination.

If the mails are global well-known brand products, including clothes, shoes, caps, purses and so on, or sent to a personal address, the sender will be required to provide invoice of the items.

If neither certificate of exclusive trademark right nor sale invoice is provided, the delivery fee will be fully charged, and the post office has the obligation to inform the client that the post department doesn’t bear any liability of compensation for mails in the cases of any delay and missing caused by detained, sequestrated or destroyed by China or foreign customs, or other law-enforce departments.
