On the afternoon of June 19, SIPO holds the Working Conference on Government Affairs Publicity in Beijing. SIPO Deputy Commissioner Yang Tiejun addresses the conference. This is an important conference SIPO holds to implement the spirit of the State Council on government affairs publicity after the promulgation of the Provisions on the Disclosure of Government Information on May 1 this year.

Mr. Yang sums up the basic achievements made by SIPO in terms of government affairs publicity in recent years and stresses the great significance of promoting government affairs publicity in the new situation. He points out that deepening the promotion of government affairs publicity is the important guarantee of promoting the overall development of socialism economic, political, cultural and social constructions, the necessary requirement of strengthening the governance capacity of the Party, implementing the scientific outlook on development in an overall manner and constructing socialism harmonious society, as well as the urgent demands and sincere hopes of the people.

Mr. Yang requires various departments of SIPO to combine the work of government affairs publicity with their routine works so as to make it a conscious awareness and performance in the process of ruling by law and the strong impetus to improve the working quality and efficiency of SIPO and its departments by further improving their understanding levels, changing their ideas and fully implementing the Provisions on the Disclosure of Government Information. He reiterates that great efforts should be made to promote the just and transparent operation of administrative power and constantly improve related systems by scientifically allocating power, exercising power according to law and publicizing power operation on the basis of the reform of administration system. Leaders of various departments should pragmatically strengthen examinations to the work of government affairs publicity of their corresponding departments according to different realities, bring the masses’ supervision role into full play, and actively explore the mechanisms that can be effectively participated in by the masses to ensure the substantial results of the work of government affairs publicity.

At the conference, Zhao Xiaoguang, head of the Department of Industry, Communications and Commerce of the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council interprets the Provisions on the Disclosure of Government Information. Chief leading cadres of SIPO departments attend the conference.
