On July 9, the Second Conference of SIPO-USPTO Automation Expert Panel is held in Beijing. SIPO Deputy Commissioner Yang Tiejun attends the conference and delivers a speech. Six U.S. experts including Commissioner for Patents of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) John Doll participate in the conference.
Mr. Yang briefs on the basic information of SIPO in patent application, patent examination and information construction in recent years, and reviews a series of progress made in bilateral cooperation after the heads of the two offices sign the strategic cooperation working plan in 2006. He points out that the exchanging mechanism between automation expert panels effectively deepens the mutual understandings of the two offices in information field. SIPO hopes to further strengthen cooperation in sectors such as informationization with USPTO so as to supply more reliable basic supports for patent examination and public services of two countries.
John Doll expresses his appreciation to the achievements made by SIPO in recent years, especially in shortening examination cycle, personnel recruitment and information construction. He hopes the two offices can continue their effective cooperation in information field. During the conference, John Doll briefly introduces the development of USPTO in recent years and his idea of IP international cooperation in the future to the experts of both offices.
