Li Yuguang Participates in the Seminar on Australian IP System in Beijing

On October 29, the Seminar on Australian IP System is jointly held by SIPO and IP Australia in Beijing. SIPO Deputy Commissioner Li Yuguang, Australian Ambassador to China Geoff Raby and IP Australia Director General Philip Noonan participate in the seminar and deliver speeches.

Mr. Li points out that IP is playing an increasingly important role in Sino-Australian economic and trade relations. After China's access to the World Trade Organization, SIPO has been launching exchanges and cooperation with IP Australia in many fields such as patent business, traditional knowledge, genetic resources and IP education. He notes that strengthening communication will help enhance mutual understanding and seek common interests.

Mr. Li stresses that to pragmatically protect their own IPRs while exploring overseas markets, Chinese enterprises should fully understand the policies and regulations related to IPR protection in foreign countries. Only through relying on the game rules of IP systems, respecting each other's IPRs, making joint efforts in exploring the new innovation modes of international competition, international integration and mutual benefit and seeking cooperation in the process of development can we take full advantage of IP systems to promote the healthy development of Chinese enterprises.

Geoff Raby praises China's achievements in IPR protection in recent years in his speech and hails the Compendium on China National IP Strategy issued by Chinese Government in June this year. He says that since China and Australia have many common interests in IP field, the two countries should make joint efforts to strengthen IP cooperation.

Philip Noonan delivers a speech at the symposium

Philip Noonan indicates that China is the largest trade partner of Australia. IP plays a decisive role in the launch of bilateral economic and trade relations. Enhancing bilateral understanding to each other's IP systems and strengthening IPR protection are of great significance in promoting mutual investment of China and Australia in important industrial realms.

Many IP experts in industrial realms in China and Australia expatiate on and discuss topics such as IPR protection in Australia and comparison of China and Australia's IP systems. The symposium also gives a demonstration of services such as online patent application.
