Sponsored by SIPO, the Symposium on Intellectual Property Protection of the Foreign-Related Institutions in China is held in Chongqing by Chongqing Science and Technology Commission and Chongqing IP Administration on November 18, 2008 to know better about the difficulties and problems of foreign-related institutions in China in IPR protection and promote the implementation of the Compendium on China National IP Strategy in an all-round manner. SIPO Deputy Commissioner Zhang Qin and Chongqing Vice Mayor Tong Xiaoping participate in the symposium.

At the symposium, representatives from foreign-related institutions exchange the good experience and practices in IPR protection in China and put forward excellent opinions and suggestions regarding the problems in China's IPR protection.

More than 200 people including heads of related departments of SIPO, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, National Copyright Administration of China, General Administration of Customs, Ministry of Public Security and Supreme People's Court, leaders of foreign-related associations, representatives of IP administrations of some provinces and municipalities and heads of more than 40 enterprises of the "World Top 500" attend the symposium.

The symposium is of great and realistic significance in terms of accelerating the pace of constructing Chongqing into a demonstration city of IPR protection, greatly improving the levels of Chongqing in IPR creation, utilization, protection and administration, creating a secure soft IP environment, constructing an innovative city and establishing Chongqing into an open highland in China's hinterland.
