Recently, SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu met with the delegation led by Namjil Chinbat, Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of Monglia, in Beijing.
During the meeting, Mr. Shen said that Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Mongolia on August 21 and 22 and the two countries' decision to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership meant China and Mongolia had entered a new era of cooperation. Since China is striving to become a strong nation in terms of intellectual property, the SIPO has accordingly identified three priorities ? implementing China's National Intellectual Property Strategy, becoming a strong intellectual property office, and establishing and improving an intellectual property system with Chinese characteristics.
Mr. Shen said that China and Mongolia had been working together on intellectual property for a long time. Since the SIPO and the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia, on behalf of the two national governments, signed the Agreement on Intellectual Property Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Mongolia in November 2005, the two sides have been engaged in in-depth cooperation on the improvement of their legal systems for intellectual property, the formulation and implementation of national intellectual property strategies, and personnel training. China and Mongolia take turns to host their annual seminar on intellectual property, which has expanded to include Russia. Mr. Shen emphasized that the SIPO would like to maintain and enhance its cooperation with the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia to pursue win-win outcomes.
Namjil Chinbat said that China and Mongolia had always been working together as good friends and neighbors, and that Mongolia should draw from China's experience in intellectual property. He said that he hoped to see more cooperation on information sharing and other issues, which would help to further enhance the close partnership between the two sides.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the Summary of the Meeting between the State Intellectual Property Office of China and the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia. According to the summary, they would strengthen their cooperation on training, seminars, and cloud patent examination systems.
