Nov.10 -- Recently, cohosted by the State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C (SIPO), the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and the Macao Economic Services (MES) of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the 2016 Mainland and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR Intellectual Property Symposium was held in Macao. Deputy Director of the SIPO He Zhimin, Director of the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Liang Jiali and Director of the MES of the Macao Special Administrative Region Dai Jianye attended and addressed the symposium.
　　
He Zhimin pointed out that, since the symposium was successfully held in 2000, it has become an annual gathering for IP communication and cooperation in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. It has provided a platform for communication and understanding for IP practitioners in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao and enriched mutual understanding, recognition and friendship between IP professionals in the three areas, enhancing people's patriotic enthusiasm and pride for the nation. He Zhimin stressed that the following five years will be the key period to accelerate the construction of an IP strong country, and that although differences exist between mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao in terms of IP systems, they both carry building China into an IP strong country as their mission. The SIPO will continue to provide more supports to the IP development in Hong Kong and Macao and at the same time hopes the two special administrative regions to grasp the opportunity of the implementation of the strategy of innovation-driven development and the acceleration of building China into a IP strong country, hence continuously promote the IP development in the two special administrative regions.

Liang Jiangli and Dai Jianye both indicated in their speeches that the communication and cooperation between mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao has promoted the development of the economic and social development. Under the current situation, the role of IP in economy and enterprises' development is becoming more and more significant. The symposium will benefit the representative's understanding of the latest progress of the IP development in mainland China and promote enterprises and innovators to better use and protect intellectual property rights (IPR).

Centering on the following three topics, over 120 representatives from the IP industry in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions conducted in-depth communication and discussion: the latest progress of IP development in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao; promoting the use of IP and leading the innovative development of economy and the IP thoughts in innovation and entrepreneurship.
