Heads of IP Offices Meeting among South Asia, Southeast Asia, Mongolia and Iran Held in Beijing

 

Jul.21 -- On July 19, hosted by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), the Heads of IP Offices Meeting between South Asia, Southeast Asia Region, Mongolia and Iran was held in Beijing. General Director of the WIPO Francis Gurry and Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C. (SIPO) Shen Changyu attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
  
On behalf of the SIPO, Shen Changyu expressed congratulations to the opening of the meeting, and gave high praise for the continuous efforts the WIPO had made in promoting the global and regional IP development. He also pointed out that China had had long and friendly relationship with South Asia, Southeast Asia, Mongolia and Iran since the ancient times; combined by the ancient Silk Road, they had close exchange in both trade and culture, which brought prosperity to people in these countries. The opening of this meeting will provide an opportunity for further communication and collaboration between these countries.

During the meeting which lasted for a day and a half, officials from intellectual property (IP) institutions from the South Asia, Southeast Asia, Mongolia and Iran, persons-in-charge from related departments of the WIPO and IP administrative officers from enterprises held discussion on topics such as IP administration offices, human resource management and training, fulfilling IP users' requirement, developing patent examination capacity and related statistics from the WIPO.
