The 69th Session of WIPO Coordination Committee took place in Geneva recently. SIPO Deputy Commissioner He Hua led the delegation of the Chinese government to attend the session.

The issue under discussion in the session was to elect the next Director General of WIPO. After Coordination Committee’s 83 member states voted, Francis Gurry, an Australian national and the current Director General of WIPO, won the election by a wide margin. He will be announced officially as the next WIPO Director General in an extraordinary session on May 8-9, 2014. His second term starts in October this year.
