On February 5, Tian Lipu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property (SIPO) talked to Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), on the phone. Both sides exchanged views on many topics.
Tian extended New Year wishes to Francis Gurry and all employees of the WIPO, and also expressed appreciation for Gurry and WIPO’s support to China’s intellectual property cause. Tian said the year of 2012 marks a milestone in the history of cooperation between both sides. In 2012, both sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding of Further Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation Between SIPO and WIPO, and also continued with collaboration in Patent Cooperation Treaty and China Patent Awards, and jointly pushed forward cooperation in many new regards, including China joining the WIPO Hague System, WIPO setting offices in China and joint researches.
Gurry also extended traditional Chinese New Year wishes to Tian and all employees of the SIPO, and expressed great appreciation for China’s significant achievements in the area of intellectual property in 2012. He also expected to further consolidate and strengthen cooperation with the SIPO.
