Li Yuguang Meets With Chief Economist of WIPO

On April 27, Li Yuguang, Deputy Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) met with Carsten Fink, Chief Economist of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and other members of the visiting delegation in Beijing. Both sides exchanged views on many issues including the feasibility of jointly establishing a research project of intellectual property and economic development.

Li said the SIPO and the WIPO have maintained sound cooperation relations. “In the past more than 20 years, the bilateral cooperation focused on legal affairs and projects. The latest research project will be a new attempt for us, and it will help broaden the field of our cooperation,” he said.

Carsten Fink said the joint research will be beneficial to both sides, and it will also provide a good example for other developing countries.
