Tian Lipu Meets With EU Trade Commissioner

On February 13, Tian Lipu, Commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) met with Karel De Gucht, EU Trade Commissioner, and other members of the visiting delegation in Beijing. Both sides exchanged opinions on issues of intellectual property rights.

Tian said recent frequent visits of EU delegations showed that the EU attaches great importance to the issue of IPR, and that IPR is an important issue for the Sino-EU relations.

"SIPO is receiving an increasing number of patent applications from the EU nations, which reflects the fact that EU enterprises have full trust in China's IPR protection systems," said Tian. "SIPO is ready to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the EU counterpart and eliminate misunderstandings."

Mr. Karel De Gucht expressed appreciation for China's measures and achievements in IPR protection. He expected both sides to enhance cooperation, optimize their IPR protection systems, and provide better investment and trade environment for enterprises.
