Invention patent fillings maintained strong momentum in the first half of this year. According to the latest statistics from SIPO, China received a total of 165,000 invention applications from home, up 43.5%; granted 83,000 invention applicaions. The top 3 provinces for invention patent application are Jiangsu, Guangdong and Beijing with the volume of 30,323, 22,628 and 20,202 respectively, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, Liaoning, Sichuan, Anhui and Tianjin followed suit from fourth to tenth. The top 3 provinces for invention patent granted are Guangdong, Beijing and Jiangsu with 9,038, 7,470, and 5,058 respectively, Sichuan climbed to the eighth from ninth over last year with 1,528, up 49.28%.
