SIPO Deputy Commissioner Led a Delegation to Cambodia

At the invitation of National Committee for Intellectual Property Rights of Cambodia, Deputy Commissioner Li Yuguang of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) led a delegation to visit Cambodia and had talks with DITH Tina, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia recently. During the visit, the two sides signed the "Memorandum of Understanding between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China and National Committee for Intellectual Property Rights of the Kingdom of Cambodia" (hereinafter called as "Memorandum of Understanding").

At the conference, Li Yuguang stressed that China and Cambodia have a long history of cooperation and have witnessed new progresses especially since SIPO signed memorandums of understanding on intellectual property with functional departments of intellectual property of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2009. SIPO would like to, on the basis of the "Memorandum of Understanding", further strengthen communication and coordination with its Cambodian counterpart and deepen cooperation in such fields as high-level mutual visits, staff training and document exchange between the two sides.

DITH Tina said that Cambodia has attached great importance to its cooperation with SIPO on IPR. He also introduced the framework of organizations in charge of intellectual property issues in Cambodia, the international treaties that Cambodia has acceded to, Cambodian policies on IPR and other situations to the delegation.

The "Memorandum of Understanding" signed at the conference is composed of 6 articles and the first agreement on intellectual property between the two sides, which will lay a sound foundation to upgrade cooperation in intellectual property field between China and Cambodia.
