SIPO Deputy Director Met with Vice President of Microsoft Corporation

SIPO Deputy Director He Hua met with Horacio E. Gutierrez, Vice President and Deputy General Consel of Microsoft Corporation, on February 18th. At the meeting, both sides exchanged their views upon issues of mutual concern on IPR.

Mr. He Hua points out that the State Intellectual Property Office is a public institute dedicated to serving the innovators and enterprises. SIPO is very willing to work with domestic and overseas enterprises, especially companies such as Microsoft, to communicate with and to listen to them, and to improve its own work in the field. The State Intellectual Property Office would continuously strengthen its capacity-building, further enhance the efficiency and quality of the examination and approval, and in the meantime, strengthen the communication and cooperation with enterprises.

Horacio E. Gutierrez applauded the achievements the State IP Office has made in terms of shortening the examination and approval period and guaranteeing the quality. As Chinese market is one of the most important markets for Microsoft, Microsoft would continuously increase its patent applications in China at a high speed, and thus more communication with SIPO is very much expected.
