A Round Table on Sino-US Patent Law Held in Beijing

 

The meeting, jointly hosted by SIPO and U. S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and organized by American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) was held on 13th September in Beijing. Both parties discussed the issues of newly-revised China's Patent Law and its rules, the application procedure of a patent for utility model, design or invention, as well as the Executive System of US Patent Law.


Official from SIPO International Cooperation Department said that patent is one of focal points between the two countries, but it also involves a wide range issues, and the two countries' cooperation is necessary. The official also stated that as long as the two sides adhere to the spirit of mutual respect, equality, relevant issues can be solved, and thus, achieve further development for bilateral benefits.


The law counselor from USPTO said that USPTO always treasures this partnership with SIPO and appreciates the effort that SIPO has done for the new modification of Chinese Patent Law. He hoped the two sides will strengthen cooperation and exchange in future.
