Tian at WIPO Assembly: A Balanced IP System is What We Need.

 

The 48th Series of Meetings of the Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was opened in Geneva, Switzerland on September 20. SIPO Commissioner Tian Lipu led the Chinese delegation with Vice Minister Fu Shuangjian from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) and Vice Minister Yan Xiaohong from the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) at deputies.


The first two-day of the 2010 Assemblies was reserved for a high-level segment, based on the theme "Innovation, Growth and Development: The Role of Intellectual Property and Member States' National Experiences". Speaking at meeting, Tian reviewed China's experiences in IP field during the 30 years' of reform and opening-up. He also proposed that the international society look at innovation in a wider view, treat IP protection in a more comprehensive standpoint, develop cooperation in a more open attitude and being tolerant in a broader chest to build a balanced and effective IP system for the international community at large.
