The Chinese State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Tian Lipu held a bilateral meeting with the European Patent Office Secretary Mr Benoit Battistelli held in Shanghai on September 3rd. The two sides reviewed the long-term friendship and cooperation in recent years between SIPO and the European Patent and discussed next phase of cooperation projects in details.

Tian Lipu pointed out the increased volume of patent applications in recently years showed that the impact of the financial crisis had been steadily declining. Innovation had been on the rise. He hoped the two sides have close exchange and cooperation based on the principle of improving resource utilization and beneficial to users. Battistelli introduced the growth of patent applications of EPO in this year and expressed his hope of furthering cooperation with SIPO.
