China High-level Forum on Intellectual Property 2010 Opened in Beijing, Tian Lipu Delivered a Speech

 

On April 20th, China High-level Forum on Intellectual Property 2010 opened in Beijing. The forum was jointly hosted by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), State Administration of Industry and Commerce (SAIC), National Copyright Administration and co-organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). The theme was to "Develop a Balanced and Effective IP System."

Tian Lipu said in his speech, most of the problems facing IPR protection work were global challenges that required countries to work together. Chinese government would firmly hold onto its stance to protect IPR. In recent years, we kept strengthening our efforts to protect IPR. IPR protection had been reflected in the real action of the Chinese government, enterprises, public and other sectors of the society. 

The forum consists of five sub-topics: intellectual property and economic and social development, giving full play to the patent system’s incentive function, law enforcement and cooperation on trademark protection under the globalization, new trend of copyright protection in the digital age exhibitions and conferences IPR protection and the balance of interests. The forum had in-depth discussions on the real progress gained in the implementation of our national IP strategy, updates on the amendments of the Chinese laws and regulations, climate change and IPR, strategic use of IPR, the challenges in the digital environment, the World Expo IPR issues and other hot spots issues.
