China Leaps to Fifth in PCT Filling in 2009

 

According to the statistics by Beijing municipal bureau of press and publication, with rapid and healthy development, as of November, the turnover of the Beijing’s publishing industry in 2009 reached 44.146 billion yuan, up 5.5%; taxes stood at 2.575 billion yuan, up 20.4%; total profit reached 2.403 billion yuan, up 2.5%.

 

According to statistics published by SIPO on January 28, as a receiving office of the PCT, SIPO received 8,000 PCT applications in 2009, up 31.6%. The increase of PCT fillings by Chinese nationals is still in high gear.

 

The top 3 provinces for PCT application are Guangdong, Beijing and Shanghai, with the volume of 4,418, 694 and 493 respectively; Jiangsu, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong and Shanxi followed suit from fourth to tenth. Most of these domestic applications are from electric field, especially in telecom and digital communication.

 

With a rapid development of PCT filings, more Chinese companies are now eyeing on overseas markets and patent abroad, by strengthening their capacity in the participation in the international market competition, according to analysts.
