On July 27th, SIPO and European Patent Office jointly held European Patent System Seminar in Beijing. SIPO deputy director Li Yuguang and deputy director of European Patent Office Wim van der Eijk attended opening ceremony and gave speeches.

Li Yuguang pointed out in his speech that patent system is an important tool no matter for exports to European market or investment in European enterprises. Chinese enterprises urgently need patent protection on European market and currently, most Chinese enterprises are still relatively unfamiliar with European patent system. He said that this seminar invited experts from European Patent Office and European legal field to introduce European patent system systematically and elaborate the application procedure in Europe. This is of important significance to Chinese enterprises.
