The 2006 Working Meeting on the Patent Information Service and Its Application was opened at 9:00a.m. on November 2nd in Fushan City, Guangdong Province. Li Yuguang, Deputy Director of the State Intellectual Property Office, Zhao Xiaofan, Director of the Popularization and Application Group under the State Council Informatization Working Office, Zhen Liangshen, Deputy Director of the Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau, Huang Weiguo, Executive Vice-Mayor of Eushan City as well as the representatives of more than twenty provinces and municipalities under the Central Government attended the opening ceremony.  On behalf of SIPO, Deputy Director Li Yuguang wished the smooth running of the meeting.  In his congratulatory address, Li said that "This working meeting is the first of its kind hosted by SIPO pertaining to patent information service, which will have active guiding significance to the informatization work of the localities.  Therefore, we must intensify the publicity of intellectual property and the service for information resources, so as to provide the public with even more convenient and rapid patent information service.

This meeting will last for 3 days.  After the opening ceremony, the various local intellectual property bureaus and the patent information service departments under the institutions and enterprise units will hold discussions centering around such issues as patent information service and its application.
