Recently, Premier Wen Jiabao made an inspection tour to Liuzhou City, Laibin City and Nanning City of Guangxi Zhuan Autonomous Region.  He visited enterprises, villages and communities and held discussions with cadres and masses of people and conducted investigation and research on such issues as the development of the advantageous industries and the special-feature economy, pushing forth the building of a new socialist countryside, expanding the opening up and enhancing the work of the nationalities.  Premier Wen emphasized again and again that "Enterprises must raise their independent innovation capabilities and have independent intellectual property and well-known name brands."

Wen first visited Liuzhou, the region's largest industrial city and made an inspection on the enterprises' production and operation.  Entering the workshop of the Liang Mian Zhen toothpaste Factory, he carefully looked at the Chinese herbal medicine specimen in display and held cordial talks with the technicians along the production line.  Wen kept on commending the work of the factory.  He said that as market competition produces challenges and pressures, our enterprises are racing with the adversaries day by day.  We must target at the domestic and overseas demands and actively expand the market.  We must raise the independent innovation capability, energetically implement the name-brand strategy and intensify the efforts to cultivate and enlarge a batch of advantageous enterprises that have independent intellectual property and well-known name brands as well as with stronger international competitive edges.

Later, Wen visited Fuda Machinery Co., Ltd., Shanghai General Motor Wulin Automobile Stockholding Co., Ltd, and the Liuzhou Industrial Group and held conversations with the corporate leaders and workers on the situation of production, the development of products and the marketing.  He said to the leaders and workers of the enterprises again and again that "Guangxi is endowed with unique regional advantages, abundant natural resources, and huge potentialities.  We must get hold of the opportunities, proceed with the actual situation of the localities and accelerate the development of the industries that have their own advantages.  Enterprieses must raise their independent innovation capacity and have independent intellectual property, and well-known name brands and stronger international competitive edge.  During his inspection tour, Premier Wen listened to the report given by the leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.  Wen pointed out that Guangxi must attach importance to the advantages of the region and further expand the opening up.  We must, in particular, fully display Guangxi's regional condition of facing the Southeast Asian countries, fully make use of the historical opportunities for constructing the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone, fully make use of the China-ASEAN Investment and Commerce Summit and the China-ASEAN EXPO mechanism, push forth the China and ASEAN cooperation in various aspects as well as expand the cooperation area and enrich and strengthen the cooperation content.  He said that Guangxi is a region where many ethnic groups dwell, therefore, we must enhance the unity of the nationalities, energetically develop the economics of the ethnic groups and constantly raise the material, cultural and the living standards of the people of all the nationalities, so as to promote the common development, common prosperity and common progress of all the nationalities.
