Special office of intellectual property protection at China "Yiwu Fair"

 

The 5-day China International Commodities Fair opened in Yiwu on the morning of October 22. It is the largest fair of daily consumption commodities. The Fair has set up a special office of intellectual property protection and worked out a plan for the protection of intellectual property and a case handling mechanism.

 

The current "2006 Yiwu Fair" has set up 4,000 standard booths; they were divided into 9 sections, covering a total floorage of 90,000 square meters. Commodities on exhibition include 12 categories involving education and office furniture, sporting and casual goods, toys, wears, shoes and caps, cosmetics and washing products, hardwares, electronic appliances, leather goods and cases, decorations and parts, handicrafts and gifts, home articles and web information.

 

Compared with the previous one, the current fair has increased 1,000 exhibition booths, which are however far below the number of 51,000 applied for by 3,050 participating enterprises. Therefore, 4,000 of them are selected as qualified for the 4,000 booths. Among them 94 participants are domestic renowned enterprises over the levels of province, prefecture or city, occupying 320 booths, and over 140 participants are from abroad, holding 346 booths. It is expected that the invited businesspeople would exceed 100,000, among whom more than 15,000 are foreigners.
