Cooperative Memorandum on Textile Intellectual Property signed between China and Germany and China and Austria respectively

 

Currently, Wang Shenyang, President of the China Chamber of Commerce of Importers and Exporters of Textiles signed a Cooperative Memoradum on the protection of intellectual property with those concerned from Germany and Austria respectively and also made an in-depth probe into such issues as: the situation of the Sino-European textile trade, bilateral cooperation and other issues.

On September 22, 2006, Wang Shenyang,in Shanghai, met with Mr. Schurze, President of the German Textile Garments Industry Association, Mr. Baumann, Secretary-General, Ms. Siwei Yong, person in charge of the international affairs, Ms. Menke Xia, person in charge of the exhibition affairs of the same association, Mr. Presser, President of the Austrian Textile Industry Association, Mr. Hengboler, President of the Swiss Textile Federation, and Mr. Schweizer, Secretary General of the same federation, Mr. Noblodt, Secretary General of the French Textile Industry Association and the responsible persons of the Chinese side who is stationed in the Sino-European Textile Federation.  Persons in charge of the relevant departments from the Ministry of Commerce were also present at the meeting.

Wang Shenyang said: "The Chinese Government has, in the recent years, attached great importance to the intellectual property protection issues and promulgated the "Plan of Action for 2006 Intellectual Property Protection in China", degraded the standards for the conviction of intellectual property crimes and more than 300,000 infringement cases were investigated and handled last year throughout China.  At present, there are 32 centers of complaint in the country's provinces and cities and about 400,000 people are specially engaged in the protection work.  At the Guangzhou commodity fairs, inspection teams have also been set up for the protection of intellectual property.  And once an infringement case is found out, the enterprise's qualification for participation will be called off.  President Schurzer stated: "The intellectual property issue has led to extensive concern from all over the world.  Therefore, EU has placed the protection of intellectual property as the focus of its work for 2007.  And this issue will be discussed at the Conference of G8.  And it is hoped that the signing of the current Cooperative Memorandum on Textile Intellectual Property will facilitate the cooperation between China and the related country."
