As the World Cup for China's Women's Football Team is drawing near, preparation work is underway. Recently, the intellectual property lawyers of the International Football Federation came to China and popularized the intellectual property knowledge by making some "Hints" to those who are concerned on the relevant issues in the five cities where the contests are to be held. The "Popularization of Law" action is also the first time that the Chinese football circle gets access to the concept of "intellectual property".
David Gill, intellectual property lawyer of the International Football Federation said: "We came to China not because China lacks efforts of intensification on intellectual property protection , but because this kind of infringement often occur in the hosting countries of the contests. Take this year's World Cup in Germany for example, there were more than 3,000 cases reporting illegal activities and crimes. Moreover, the procedures for intellectual property litigation tend to be of long-standing. This month the cases of the 1998 World Cup in France have just been wound up. Therefore, the International Football Federation dispatched this team to China specially to do some prevention work.
