The 8th China Hi-tech Fair opened on October 12 and closed on October 17 at the Shenzhen Exhibition Center. At the current fair some changes were seen in the guiding thought, setup of themes and invitation measures. 

 

 Compared with previous fairs, the 8th Hi-tech Fair has four features: first, prominence is given to the three themes ? "self- renovation", "recycle economy" and "intellectual property protection"; second, the Fair integrates resources of science and technology to serve technological renovation of enterprises; third, models of trading hi-tech achievements are renovated and enriched, with prominence on the effectiveness of forum, special activity of "super-SUPER"; and fourth, exchange of human resources and intelligence are linked closer with the display and transaction of hi-tech achievements.

 

The 8th China Hi-tech Fair was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information and Industry, State Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Personnel, State Intellectual Property Office, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering as well as the Shenzhen municipal people's government, and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture.

 

Since the Fair was launched the first time in 1999 with the approval of the State Council, seven times have been successful. Both its size and popularity have been enlarged continuously with international influence to some extent. The Fair plays an active role in promoting international scientific and technological exchange and cooperation, and boosting the development of China's hi-tech industry.
