Zhang Qin met with Japan's AOTS experts

On September 25, Zhang Qin, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) met with Makoto Hashiguchi, Executive Council Member of Japan's AOTS and his party in Beijing, at which, both sides held a friendly talk on strengthening the intellectual property personnel cultivation cooperation and on enhancing the understanding between China and Japan.

Zhang Qin stated: "In the past 10 years, there had been good cooperative relationship between Japan's AOTS and China's SIPO.  We have dispatched examiners to Japan to take part in the research and studies at AOTS.  This has greatly upgraded our personnel's professional level.  In recent years, the number of Japan's application for patents is placed on top among other countries in China.  There is a big space for cooperation in the intellectual property field between the two countries.  We hope both sides will continue with this good cooperation and further expand the scope of our cooperation.

Makoto Hashiguchi stated: "There is still a big space for cooperation in the area of training between our two countries.  We hope SIPO will send more officials to Japan and enhance our cooperation.

It is reported that since 1996, AOTS has started cooperation with SIPO in personnel training.  By 2006, 157 personnel involved with intellectual property were recommended successively by SIPO and took part in the AOTS research and studies.
