A few days ago, the 7th Session of China Patent High and New Technological Products Fair, which was jointly sponsored by the State Intellectual Property Office, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the People's Government of Shandong Province opened in Qufu, Shandong Province.  He Hua, deputy director and Shan Yong, deputy department director of the State Intellectual Property Office, Pan Yunhe, vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Wang Junmin, Vice governor of the People's Government of Shandong Province were present at the opening ceremony.  And Yang Cailiang, director of the information center, Liao Bin, deputy director of the coordination department and Zhang Xi, president of the publishing house of the province took part in the relevant activities.

 

In his address, He Hua pointed out: "Patent high and new technological products are crystals of scientific and technological progress and innovation and are important carriers of independent intellectual property right.  Speeding up the research and development of the patent high and new technological products and enhancing the creation, management, implementation and protection of independent intellectual property right is becoming an important point in upgrading the independent innovation capability, strengthening the new advantages for regional competition as well as an inevitable demand and a realistic choice for the all-round implementation of a scientific outlook of development and the building of an innovative-type of a country.  In the knowledge economic era, a country's owning of intellectual property right has become an important mark in determining its scientific and technological as well as the economic strength and the comprehensive competitive edge.

 

He Hua pointed out: "At the National Science and Technology Conference convened by the Party Central Committee and the State Council this year, the enhancement of independent innovation capability has become a national strategy and is placed in an unprecedented important position.  This fully demonstrates the high importance attached by the Party and the state to independent innovation, and also illustrates the importance of the intellectual property work.  Confronted with the new innovation tide that rise and fall continuously, it is imperative that, in the process of speeding up the scientific development and harmonious development, the management and protection of intellectual property right be integrated into the state innovation system.  And with active and enterprising posture, we will seize the opportunities and meet the challenges.  And we will create a new situation in the intellectual property work through the adopting of substantial and effective measures as well as the performing of excellent work.

 

The China Patent High and New Technological Products Fair has been successfully held in Jining County, the hometown of Confucius and Mencius for six sessions under the high importance attached to it and active operation of the people's governments of Shandong Province and Jining City.  Through the close cooperation and the concerted efforts of all those concerned, the scope of the fairs has been continuously expanding, involving more areas and with obvious results. This fair has become an important showcase for the implementation of China's intellectual property right strategy and the displaying of fruits of independent innovation.  And this fair has become an important platform for promoting the patents as well as the commercialization and industrialization of high and new technological products.  The theme of this fair is: "Innovation, cooperation and Development".  More than 500 people participated in the fair.  They included: the representatives from the institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes, high and new technology enterprises such as Qinghua University, Peking University and Langchao as well as the owners of patent technology.  Present were also delegations from North America and West Europe.  This fair propelled the close cooperation and technological innovation between production and academic research and promoted the economic development and social progress.
