Mr. Tian Lipu, commissioner of SIPO, recently met Dr. Henry McKinnell, Chairman &CEO, Pfizer Inc and his party. Mr. Lu Guoliang, Director of SIPO International Department, Mr. Gong Baomin, Deputy Director of SIPO Pharmaceutical Department attended the meeting.

 

Mr. Tian, after expressing his welcome at first to his guests, said building an innovation-oriented country is China's strategic decision, and SIPO played an important role in the process. This strategy does not mean China repels foreign IP, and SIPO, as the patent examination institute, will provide service not only to Chinese enterprises but also to foreign businesses with investment in China, especially the large companies like Pfizer, The commissioner pointed out that Pfizer branches in all over the world had applied 1,044 patents in China, representing the high attention to Chinese market from Pfizer, important position of China in Pfizer's global IP policy and the confidence to China's IP system. According to Mr. Tian, the Pfizer China had truly promoted the upgrading of Chinese pharmaceutical firms and people's health.
