China and Russia IP Authorities Signed Memorandum on Cooperation

 

A 5-member group from Russian IPR, Patent and Trademark Administration had a visit to China between July 24 and 28, and reached an understanding memorandum for cooperation with their Chinese counterpart, the State Intellectual Property Office. The group, led by Mr. Boris Simonov, Director of the Russian administration, is the invited guest of SIPO.

 

In the morning of July 25, Mr. Tian Lipu, commissioner of SIPO, held a talk with his guests. Tian introduced the progress of IPR in China as well as the challenges China has, and then answered the questions from his counterpart. Both parties agreed that the trade development between the two countries is closely related to IP, and the cooperation between the two IP authorities will bring out important influence to the trade relation between the two countries. Counsellor of Science and Technology of Russian Embassy to Beijing as well as some other relevant officials attended the talk.

 

Except talks, Russian delegates visited the SIPO’s examination department and training center, the Ministry of Commerce, the Superior People’s Court, the office of China National IP Protection Working Office, IP Promotion Bureau at Zhongguancun, Beijing, as well as the Beijing Zhongxing Micro-Electronics Corp. From these visits, the Russian delegation obtained more detailed information about the latest progress in China’s IP protection, policies and measures from local government to encourage and support enterprises’ innovation and commercialization of IP, as well as the IP work in Zhongguancun Sci-Tech Zone.

 

China and Russia have a long and friendly cooperation relation in IP field, especially in patent field. This visit not only deepens the communication and understanding between the two entities, further promotes the cooperation in IP field, but also creates an even sound environment for the trade relation between two countries.
