SIPO Director Tian met with Group headed by Vice Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic

 

On the afternoon of July 4th, Mr. Tian Lipu, Director of SIPO, met with the representative group headed by Mr. Martin Tlapa, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Czech. This is the first official visit made by senior government officials of the Czech Republic to SIPO. The group was accompanied by Mr.Ji?í Svoboda, Counselor, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the People?s Republic of China, and Mr. Lawrence, Director of the non-EU Section of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Czech.

 

At the meeting, Mr. Tian first expressed his welcome to Mr. Tlapa and the representative group consisting of senior officials. He also introduced the basic functions, responsibilities and latest developments of SIPO as well as the measures taken by SIPO and the subsequent progresses in terms of the protection of intellectual property rights. Other topics discussed at the meeting included the situation of patent applications files by the Czech Republic in China.

 

The purpose of Mr. Tlapa’s visit this time was to participate Sino-Czech Combined Economic and Trade Committee Meeting and to understand China’s strategies and attitudes regarding the protection of intellectual property rights. Mr. Tlapa thanked Director Tian for his time to meet with the representative group and said that he was happy to see the efforts that China has been making with respect to protecting intellectual property rights. Mr. Tlapa also asked, in great details, the programmes of patents applications, approval timeframes and effective approaches to seek protections when patent infringements take place. Both SIPO and the Czech representative group emphasize that the close cooperation in the field of intellectual property rights between the governments of China and the Czech Republic will certainly drive the developments of economic and trade relations between the two nations.
