Deputy Commissioner Li Yuguang Met with Director General of Danish Patent and Trademark Office

Deputy Commissioner Li Yuguang met with the visiting Mr. Jesper Kongstad, Director General of Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO), and his delegation on January 11. The two parties exchanged views on issues concerning the cooperation between the State Intellectual Property Office of PRC (SIPO) and the DKPTO. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Thomas Christensen, Commercial Counselor from the Royal Danish Embassy in China, and his colleague.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Li Yuguang made proposals on  the future cooperation between the two offices while Director General Jesper Kongstad introduced the characteristics and the strength of DKPTO in details. The two sides agreed to strengthen their cooperative relations, especially on IP legislation, patent examination, patent information services and international cooperation.

This is the first official visit from the DKPTO to the SIPO. Although the two offices have not signed any cooperation agreement, they have maintained a friendly exchange over the recent years. As an active player on the international intellectual property development, the DKPTO is influential in the IP society in Europe, especially among the Nordic countries.

During their stay in Beijing, the Danish delegation also visited the Preliminary Examination and Flow Management Department and the Electronics Examination Department of SIPO, the China Intellectual Property Training Center and Beijing Intellectual Property Office.
