Commissioner Wang Jingchuan and Deputy Commissioner Tian Lipu met with the visiting senior management of the US Chamber of Commerce on February 10, 2004.
US Chamber of Commerce, representing the interests of over three million American companies, is a major player in influencing US trade policies. The visiting delegation, including many senior officers from large US corporations, was headed Mr. Daniel Christman, Senior Vice President.
Mr. Christman expressed that the members of the Chamber had great interest in what SIPO's priorities for now and the future were. Commissioner Wang introduced SIPO's measures in tackling examination backlog, legal work, publicity measures to elevate the public's awareness of intellectual property, training of IPR professionals and strengthening of IPR enforcement.
Mr. Christman and other members of the delegation expressed their appreciation of Commissioner Wang's frankness and down-to-earth attitude as deep impression of SIPO's effective efforts in IPR protection. Mr. Christman also stressed the Chamber's intention in assisting the Chinese government in aspects of education and publicity of IPR in China.
Mr. Yin Xintian, Director General of Legal Affairs Department and Mr. Lu Guoliang, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Department also attended the meeting.
