Commissioner Wang Jingchuan and Deputy Commissioner Tian Lipu met with the visiting Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) Ms. Liew Woon Yin and held a formal bilateral conference on February 9, 2004

Commissioner Wang introduced to the guest the latest development of SIPO, especially SIPO's measures in encouraging innovations, shorten examination term, elevate public's awareness of IPR protection and improve laws and regulations.  Ms. Liew showed her appreciation of SIPO's measures and progresses made.  She also presented the update of IPOS.  The two sides also exchanged ideas in issues of common concern and deepened the mutual understanding.  Commissioner Tian escorted the delegation to SIPO's computer center, receiving hall, examiner's offices, patent documentation library and training center. 

After the meeting, both sides signed a memorandum for future cooperation and a memorandum for cooperation between the China Intellectual Property Training Center and its Singaporean counterpart.
