First Group of High Schools in Beijing Identified as IP High School

 

On December 11, at a ceremony held at Beijing No.22 High School, a first group of eight middle schools in Beijing were identified as IP Model School by the Beijing Intellectual Property Office (BJIPO). 

What is an IP Model School special about?   Such school will designate teaching personnel to encourage students to innovate, teach basic knowledge of IP and educate them to respect and utilize IPRs, for example, avoiding buying pirated goods and applying for their own patents. 

Mr. Deng Jun, Deputy Director General of the General Affairs Office of SIPO endorsed with such method of educating kids and teens in IPR.  He also offered some advice on how to implement such good method. 

Ms. Liu Dongwei, Director General of BJIPO expressed her office's support to the program.  The office will aid the students of these schools in searching patent information and applying patents by offering textbooks, tutors and necessary fund.  In the long run, BJIPO will work closely with Beijing Education Department to gradually implement this program to the citywide and ultimately include it into the city's standard high school education.  

The first groups of schools are all from the Dongcheng District.  They are selected after rigorous rounds of joint review by the district's Science and Education Commission, Education Commission and IP Office and final approval by BJIPO.  The eight firstlings are Beijing No.2 High School, No. 5 High School, No. 5 High School Second Campus, Dongzhimen High School, No. 166 High School, No. 22 High School, Guozijian High School and No. 65 High School.
