National Copyright Administration Deploys Crackdown of Counterfeiting Cartoons

The National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) recently deployed a nationwide task for cracking down counterfeiting blue cat goods to its local administrations.

NCAC required local administrations, with the assistance from police and administrations for industry and commerce, should inspect audio-visual, book markets, grocery wholesale and retail markets to crack down counterfeiting any book, audio-visual product, stationery, toy, garment and food packaging illicitly carrying or embodying the image of the cartoon character blue cat, from January 1 to 20, 2004.  The violators will be fined and the alleged infringing goods will be confiscated.  The highest administration for copyright protection in China also demanded the local authorities to make full play of the local press by highly publicize their actions to deter possible offenders and elevate the awareness in copyright protection of companies and the general public.
