Sponsored by World Intellectual Property Organization(WIPO), Ministry of Science and Technology of China, State Intellectual Property Office, WIPO Asian Regional Symposium on the Importance of the Intellectual Property system for High-Tech Industries was held in Guangzhou on July 10.  Ms. Rita Hayes, Deputy Director General of WIPO, Mr. Li Hongzhong, Vice President of Guangdong Province, Mr. Tian Lipu, Deputy Commissioner of SIPO and some leading officials from Ministry of Science and Technology attended the symposium.  Also at the symposium were over 100 experts from 22 Asian countries including China.

 

It should be mentioned that this was the first high level intellectual property symposium held in Guangdong Province. From July 10-19, the participants discussed the issues related to the intellectual property system and high technologies.  In addition, WIPO co-organized with Guangdong Province 5-day National Training Seminar on Intellectual Property for Entrepreneurs.
