Intellectual Property Arms Police Officers

 

The first ever intellectual property workshop directed at police detectives was held by the Department of Economic Crime Investigation (DECI), Ministry of Public Security in Qing Dao City, Shan Dong Province from April 16 to 21.

The organizer invited experts from the State Intellectual Property Office, State General Administration for Industry and Commerce, National Copyright Administration of China, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Beijing High People's Court and China Academy of Social Sciences to deliver presentations to over 100 police detectives specializing in economic crime investigation. Gao Feng, Deputy Director General of the DECI stressed that the activities of making counterfeiting goods were prevalent in China.  Every single commodity of 560 kinds in 167 classes was forged.  Social security was under big threat.  Intellectual property crimes were especially serious.  Therefore, it was very important and necessary to train police officers intellectual property knowledge. 

The workshop was assisted by the Quality Brand Protection Committee, China Association of Foreign Investors.  Several world-renowned corporations of the Association made presentations of typical cases to the officers.
