Shanghai's Pudong New Area plans to promote its high-end service industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, according to the Pudong commerce commission.
The area's high-end service industry accounts for only one third of its entire service industry, indicating that the sector is of great potential.
The service industry plays a big part in Pudong's economic growth, with its contribution rate rising from 63 percent to about 90 percent in the past two years, according to statistics released by the commission.
Pudong will focus on developing 10 high-end service fields including R&D service, information service, shipping service, emerging finance, creative culture, and travel fair, to form a better high-end service industry system by 2020.
More Pudong areas such as Lujiazui Financial City, Waigaoqiao Bonded Zone, Jinqiao Export Processing Zone, Zhangjiang High Tech Park, and World Expo Park will be involved to better serve its goal of promoting the high-end service industry.
Pudong authorities will also work on creating a legal, international, and convenient business environment for the high-end service industry, such as improving public services and enhancing intellectual property rights protection.
