Nov.9 (China Daily) -- Canada-based Wilan Inc is suing Sony Corp in a court in Nanjing for alleged patent infringement. Wilan is a non-practicing entity, or NPE, that wound down its business operations but retains many patents from which it continues to derive income. It is the first time a foreign NPE has sued a foreign tech company in China. Industry insiders said the dispute could establish the country as an important new venue for IP cases.
