Jiangsu: German Political Delegation Visits Taicang

Sep.1 (China Daily) -- A political youth delegation headed up by Manfred Groh from Germany's Christian Democratic Party paid a visit to Taicang on Aug 26, as a part of a trip promoting German cooperation in Jiangsu province, Taicang Daily reported.

Germany and Taicang have cooperated economically for more than 20 years in areas such as technology, manufacturing, training and intellectual property rights (IPR) protection.

The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is one of the ruling parties in Germany. The delegation visited the AHK-ChienShiung Training Center, a joint operation run by AHK Greater China, the Chien-Shiung Institute of Technology, German manufacturer Kern-Liebers, and the Taicang German Center. Kern-Liebers was the first German company to settle in Taicang back in 1993.

The delegation gained a greater understanding of the economic development of Taicang and gained insights into Sino-German cooperation in the city.

Groh expressed his gratitude to Taicang for providing a favorable business environment for German enterprises to operate in, and hoped that the two sides could cooperate on more projects in the future.
