Fujian: Pingtan Unveils Measures for Scientific Innovation

Aug.11 (China Daily) -- Pingtan, Fujian province, recently issued 13 incentive policies to support technological innovation in the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, as reported by the Pingtan Times.

The new policies mainly cover four areas including R&D, innovation and entrepreneurship, the transformation of technological achievements and technical cooperation.

The maximum subsidies to scientific research institutes, high-tech business incubators and maker spaces are set at 1 million yuan ($150,478) and 300,000 yuan to platforms for transforming technological achievements.

Pingtan is the nearest region to Taiwan province on the mainland, only 68 nautical miles away from Hsinchu, Taiwan province. Therefore, it will make great effort in introducing Taiwanese advanced technologies, achievements and patents from the province. Taiwanese scientific innovation platforms will be subsidized with 50 percent more than others of this kind.
