Xinjiang: Patent Applications in the First Half Year of 2016 Sets a Record High

 

Aug.2 -- From January to June 2016, the total number of patent applications in Xinjiang was 5,812, with a year-on-year growth of 7.39%. The number of granted patents was 3,323, down 27.11% year-on-year. The number of patent applications sets a record high.
  
In the first half year of 2016, under the circumstances when the overall growth of patent application slowed, the number of application for invention patent in Xinjiang continued to grow with a relatively high rate. The application number of invention patents was 1,656, with a year-on-year growth of 23.49%. The number of invention patent grants was 535, with a year-on-year growth of 21.87%. The number of valid inventions was 3,496, with a year-on-year growth of 28.11%. The number of invention patents owned per 10,000 people was 1.52, with a year-on-year growth of 0.31. 

In the first half year of 2016, the number of invention patent grants continued to rise with a relatively high rate which was the only one out of three patent types that remained positive growth. The patent authorization ratio also rose by 6 %, and the quality of patent rose as well. Among the five types of patent applicants, the enterprise still held the first place in the number of patent applications and patent application granted still held the first places, accounting for 44.98% and 47.82% of the total respectively. The invention and creation activities of the government agencies and organizations were active, with year-on-year growth rates of 138.71% and 69.35% respectively, which were highest among the five types of applicants.
