BEIJING, Apr.11 (SIPO) -- Recently, the reporter learned from the Intellectual Property Office of Shaanxi that in 2015, the number of invention patents owned per 10, 000 people in Shaanxi was 6.021, ranking 7th nationwide, and the first in mid-west China.

The year 2015 witnessed the province's highest increase in the number of invention patent applications and of granted patents since the implementation of patent system. The number of invention patent applications was 74,904, ranking 12th nationwide, with a year-on-year growth of 30.2%. And the number of granted patents was 33,350. By the end of 2015, the total number of invention patents in Shaanxi was 22,622.

Colleges and universities contribute greatly to the province's intellectual property development, and enterprises are the major force of innovation. Among the province's 116 colleges and universities, 63 are involved in patenting activities, with 12,793 invention patents applied and 8239 granted. There are 10,990 valid invention patents owned by the colleges and universities, taking up 48.5% of the province's total amount. The number of valid invention patents owned by the top 100 enterprises was 4329, which takes up 53% of the province's total number of invention patents owned by enterprises.
