According to the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO), the city of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province added a record high 866 invention patents in 2015, triple the number compared with 2014.

The invention patents made up 27 percent of the huge total of 3,693 patents applied for in the city last year.

To promote innovation and entrepreneurship, Zhangjiagang has launched various policies to support intellectual property work, including bonuses and subsidies.
