A research team at Nankai University recently announced it has developed aviation fuel by hydroprocessing castor oil. Li Wei, head of the team, said the core was to find proper catalysts. He said using caster oil could solve the two biggest problems in developing bio-aviation fuel, those of high production costs and limited raw materials. The team has filed invention patent applications for the method and catalysts.
