The first 500-meter track for the Zhengzhou-Xuzhou high-speed railway was laid in Xuzhou on Sunday morning, marking the start of the track-laying process of China's first high-speed railway that uses home-developed CRTS III ballastless tracks, which allow trains to go at speeds of 350 km per hour. The Zhengzhou-Xuzhou high-speed railway covers a distance of 361.9 km and has nine stations. The project was launched in 2012 and is scheduled to be completed by 2016.
