Zhejiang: Facial Recognition ATM Unveiled

A Hangzhou-based company unveiled the world's first automatic teller machine with facial recognition last week. The machine connects with the public security authority's database. When a user inserts a bank card into the machine, a camera is activated to compare his or her face with the registered photo of the card owner in the database. If it finds the user is not the real card owner, it will not give out money, even if the password is correct. The machine is the result of joint efforts by the company and Tsinghua University.
